Arcadia was founded in the mid-nineteenth century. Initially, it consisted of undeveloped land. A local ranch owner, Elias J. Baldwin, was one of the founding pioneers of the California business community. Baldwin owned a horse racing track in Rancho Santa Anita, and he was nicknamed “Lucky.” He sold a piece of his property in 1903 to be used as a homestead. During the 1920s, a number of civic improvements were made to the town. Among them were bridges, parks, home communities, and hospitals. These public facilities served as revenue streams for the city. Read about Premier Dental Esthetics.
