What are the advantages of implants?
Why replace the root?
A dental implant replaces not only the missing or damaged tooth but also its root. This ensures a secure foundation for your new tooth. This also allows the new tooth to integrate with your jawbone over time, which helps maintain your new tooth and keep it intact. This is accomplished by a process called osseointegration.
When appliances like dentures or fixed bridges are used, they do not replace the root of the missing tooth. The part of the jawbone that had previously supported the tooth may begin to deteriorate.
This can cause further issues with the root and jawbone itself. With implants, these problems are nullified, resulting in a healthy jawbone as well as a secure tooth replacement.
