One of the main attractions in Arcadia is its world-class thoroughbred racing venue, Santa Anita Park. It has been deemed to be one of the best winter horse racing venues in the nation. In the 1940s, a development boom in Arcadia began. The town gained access to automobile traffic, with the completion of Huntington Drive and Colorado Boulevard. New housing, parks, and other amenities followed, creating a new income stream for the city. In addition, the community benefited from the construction of several bridges and public art. These included the transit plaza across the former site of Lucky Baldwin’s Oakwood Hotel, the train station, and the footbridge over Huntington Drive.

In 1951, the Arcadia Chamber of Commerce organized a Peach Blossom Festival. This festival was tied in with the dedication of the Memorial Grove and the opening of the Civic Center. The new city hall was also dedicated.

One of the most popular cultural centers in Arcadia is the Arcadia Historical Museum, which focuses on the history of the community. The museum features period furnishings and photographs of bygone landmarks. Visitors can explore the area’s history and the Arcadia “walk of fame.” There are also temporary exhibits and community programs held at the museum throughout the year.

Another popular place to visit in Arcadia is the Los Angeles County Arboretum & Botanic Garden. This beautiful, natural space is home to many events, including California Philharmonic Concerts on the Green. Additionally, it is the perfect place to spend a day in nature.

As an active member of the community, the Arcadia Chamber of Commerce has been instrumental in the growth of the city. Their efforts have been credited with helping to develop sidewalks, a Pacific Electric station, and a daily newspaper. They have been called a “live wire” group and continue to play an important role in the town’s civic affairs.
