Arcadia Article 17

Arcadia CA is a beautiful residential community in Southern California. It is situated in the Los Angeles metropolitan area, at the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains. Although primarily residential, Arcadia has several amenities for residents and tourists. One of the most renowned is the Santa Anita Park, a world-class thoroughbred racing facility. The post-World War II housing boom continued through the 1960s. In the 1950s, six schools were established in Arcadia. Today, it is home to an award-winning school district. In the 1920s, the Arcadia Planning Commission was established. It was the precursor to the current Arcadia Chamber of Commerce. At its inception, the organization had 28 members. They paid monthly dues of 25 cents. It encouraged the growth of home-manufacturing industries. The group also worked to improve subdivision settlements.

In 1951, the Arcadia Junior Chamber of Commerce organized the Peach Blossom Queen contest. This event was tied to the dedication of the civic center and the new city hall. Later, the city adopted the 911 emergency number.

Arcadia’s economy has been improving recently. The home appreciation rate in the city for the past twelve months was 16.1%. Its population has grown by 4.4% in the past decade. As of 2020, the city has 56,323 residents. Most of its citizens are U.S. citizens, who largely speak English at home.
