Your Initial Visit:
On your initial visit, we ask you to share your expectations and concerns with us. One of our team members will give you a short tour to get you acquainted with our office. The following procedures will provide important information in order for Dr. Young to give you a complete and accurate diagnosis of your oral conditions.
We’ll record your blood pressure, pulse and acidity of your mouth (pH test), then take the necessary digital X-Rays and photos.
Dr. Young will check your head, neck, jaw joint
and oral soft tissue for signs of abnormalities.
Your bite and teeth will be given a thorough
examination. We use DIAGNOdent, a laser
cavity-finding instrument to detect early signs
of tooth decay. This allows us to keep cavities
to a minimum size and preserve most of your
tooth.
Next, we’ll perform a detailed gum examination.
A smile analysis and impressions may be taken for more advanced smile makeover requests.
Finally, we will provide you with a complete treatment plan and price quotation before any procedure is started.

We’ll do a painless VELscope cancer screening to check for early signs of pre-cancerous cells. When detected early, oral cancer is very treatable, however, in most cases, the cancer is discovered later and the survival rate is reduced to only about 50%.
