Crowns and Onlays
A "cap", "jacket" or "crown" will restore a broken, heavily filled or cracked tooth to its original size and shape. This may also be recommended after root canal therapy has been completed as the tooth tends to become brittle and is more susceptible to fracture. Crowns can strengthen and protect the remaining tooth structure and improve the appearance of your teeth.
An onlay is a more conservative form of a crown where more tooth structure is being preserved and still provides similar protection as a crown. We use many different types of materials for crowns and onlays, such as gold, porcelain-fused high noble metal, metal-free all-ceramic and fiber reinforced polyglass.

We can restore your broken tooth or make a new crown for you in the SAME VISIT with CEREC® 3D Technology! This process takes about one hour. What is CEREC® 3D?
CEREC® 3D is an acronym for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics. This means that Dr. Young can restore damaged teeth in a single appointment using a high quality ceramic material that matches the natural color of your other teeth—at low cost!
CEREC® 3D uses a CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) technology, incorporating a camera, computer and milling machine in one instrument. Dr. Young uses a special camera to take an accurate picture of the damaged tooth. This optical impression is then transferred and displayed on a computer screen, where Dr. Young uses CAD technology to design the restoration. Then the CAM takes over and automatically creates the restoration while you wait. Finally, Dr. Young bonds the new restoration to the surface of the old tooth.
